Bye, Bye Truck! (sniff, sniff)

This Saturday was an exciting day for Sidra, but a little bit of a sadder day for Daddy and Meili; we scrapped our 1976 Ford truck! That bad boy has been parked because of some needed repairs for a good year and a half and Sidra and our landlord are pretty excited that it's gone. Scott always dreamed of repairing it, but doesn't seem to find the time between a Master's Thesis and working full time. We found out that scrap metal is at a pretty good price right now so we towed it (with a flat tire) while Meili looked on and bawled, "It's coming back, right? Right?" Here's some pics from when we were trying to sell it last summer (or the summer before, I can't quite remember).

THE BIG NEWS!

For some of you the big news might be that we are pregnant with our third baby. But for others, perhaps mostly family, the BIGGER news is that we are having a BOY! The Morris line will continue! There aren't many Morris boys, and Scott & I are the only hope for his immediate family because he has only sisters. Don't get us wrong, we love our girls. In fact, we aren't sure what we would actually do with a boy. Neither of us have much experience with boys. The saddest one in our family was actually Meili, who earlier the day of the ultrasound informed me that she got to choose what we would be having this time (a girl, of course!) and that I could choose the next one. So at the appointment she was a bit disappointed. But since then, has warmed up to the idea and excitedly tells everyone (and I mean everyone) that she is going to have a little brother and she randomly kisses my belly at least four times a day and talks baby talk to her little brother.
Sorry I don't have any pictures of the expanding belly; I seem to elude the camera a bit when I am pregnant. Though this is pretty good evidence that I am pregnant and taking lots of (drowsy) medicine to keep me away from the toilet 3-4 times a day. (A big thanks to all my friends who got me through the roughest time with their meals and outings with the girls!)

Family & "The CLAW"

We're a little slow with this, but our family hasn't yet made cameos on our blog so we are posting some pictures from our family party where we played with a CLAW machine. BTW Scott & I were the big winners, bringing home some $14 home in cash that we were able to pick up with the elusive claw. It was super sweet! And don't forget the Wii! Scott gets a pretty good workout, especially when he is playing our Bro-in-Law, Guy. It looks like I am better at just posing.

Halloween in February?

No, we are just playing catch-up on this blog! Here are some pictures of our Halloween '07. First, the weekend before Halloween, we had our annual Doughnut party. We don't have any pics, but our cousin, Priscila has pictures on her blog (you can just click on her name in the "Our Fellow Bloggers" links).
On Halloween, the girls had fun going to story time at the Library with their cousin, Lily (the other angel). Then we went to Macey's for all the candy they were handing out! That evening our ward had a trick-or-treat party at one of the apartment complexes. It was so fun because they still got to knock on each door (unlike the famous trunk or treat) and say "Trick or Treat!!". It was decorated so fun and there was some classic Halloween music playing. Oh, and Sophie hooked up with one of the other kids in the ward, Thatcher the Lion, and held his hand (a little young, don't you think?). It was the most fun I have had for Halloween since I was a kid. That is the beauty of having children-you get to relive your own childhood. Meili said it perfectly at the end of the day; that it was "The best Halloween ever!"

Sometimes You Just Gotta Deep Fry!

Forget a traditional roast and potatoes dinner for Sunday evening! Yesterday I just got this urge to fry something! Not just a little turn of EVOO around the pan (nod to the Rachael Ray fans), but some serious deep frying. I told Scott my idea and we searched our fridge for what we could fry. I whipped up some cream cheese wontons and some pork, tofu, and veggie spring rolls while he decided on some homemade corn dog bites. Once the frying was over we decided we had way too much fried food and that we had to share; so we brought some neighbors in on the action to "try out" our fun. We decided to end the evening on a healthier note, so we made some mugua neoni (Taiwanese papaya milk) and it was honestly some of the most fun I've had for a while. Scott and I used to hang out in the kitchen all the time and see what we could come up with together, but lately (the last 2-3 years) he's been so busy that I've mostly been donning the chefs hat alone. It was a good blast from the past that I hope to repeat a bit more with him.

Moving On

This last Sunday we said a sad good-bye to a very long chapter in our life; the BYU 82nd LDS Married Student Ward. We figured when you have been in what is supposed to be a transitional ward for 5 years (off and on), you have lasted through 3 bishops, the Stake-Presidency knows you by your first names (and feel comfortable calling you for emergency fill-in talks for Stake Conference), and most of the other members of the ward were in Elementary School when you graduated from High School (and you actually knew their older siblings who also used to be in your ward and have since moved on), then it was time for us to move to a family ward. In all actuality, the only real reason we have switched is because our oldest, Meili, was old enough to be in Primary (a special Sunday School for children ages 3-11) and our student ward doesn't have one because there aren't any other children old enough. It was tough for Scott and I, but when Meili happily skipped between her classes and eagerly introduced us to her teachers and her new friends (kids her age!!!), it was all worth it. We are actually excited, but neither Scott nor I have been members of anything but Student Wards for over 10 years. It's just different, and we will miss all of our friends we have made in the student ward.

Classic Christmas Videos?

So, I was checking out my cousin Robin's blog and she put on her favorite Christmas 80s video from Wham "Last Christmas" (which I recommend checking out on Youtube for a couple of good laughs). We just had to add our favorites that make us chuckle:
Scott's favorite classic is ABBA "Chiquitita". "Chiquitita?" you might ask? Just check out the giant snowman...


The second video we found that has become our favorite the last couple of days (meaning Meili requests we play it at least 10 times a day) is "Do They Know It's Christmas?". This is from a variety of different top 80's artists. While you are watching, see if you can recognize any of the singers. We will see who can name the most singers that they see from only watching the video (no googling to cheat).
